Untitled photo

I'm a photographer & writer from New York and Maine. From my early years, I began to love what the photographic image could do. It was almost magical to be able to get what one saw through a camera into print. The wonder of this feeling stayed with me. Before turning my creative pursuits entirely to photography, I had a career as an advertising art director and had the opportunity to work with and learn from many different photographers. My photographic work and photo essays have appeared in various newspapers, journals, and exhibitions throughout New York State, Maine, and internationally. I am a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in NYC and continue my formal study of art and life in "The Critical Inquiry" workshop, that was originally taught by the renowned painter & Aesthetic Realism consultant Dorothy Koppelman, and continued now by consultants and art critics Marcia Rackow, Carrie Wilson & Ken Kimmelman at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation in SoHo, NY. I also had the good fortune to study with the noted photographer, Nancy Starrels in her class "The Honoring Eye".

My work is very much inspired by this important principle of Aesthetic Realism, the education founded by the great American philosopher and critic, Eli Siegel, whom I had the honor to study with: “The world, art, and self explain each other: each is the aesthetic oneness of opposites.”

I love photographing, especially landscapes & wildlife, because of the deep excitement and awe in meeting a world with such variety and richness. I hope you enjoy discovering new and wonderful visions of our world through my work.
